19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former trainer his previous coach.
Now collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first title since the Rome competition and first on a hard surface since that period of that year.
The win also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one various events.
"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.
His counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to perform at the highest level was finished.
But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an improved service.
He came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the final five games to take the lead.
The pair swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.
The opponent defended four initial chances in a competitive final set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.
Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
