Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Party

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, fiends, and dark forces growing in influence within the urban setting.

Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of characters who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

With 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.

This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear mismatched, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

First, the group understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with the enemy group.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise started the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then cleared his debts and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, above the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a hostile location.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having defied his family’s wishes to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:

  • Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and Wicander defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the clan.

This results in them few options but to travel to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.

What’s Next?

Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight participants to form the Questers and Strategists groups.

Viewers can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
