Bolsonaro has been arrested after authorities concluded he posed a definite escape threat while under home confinement.
The one-time leader was found guilty of planning a armed takeover in the ninth month and given more than over two decades in prison, but he remained under house arrest pending appeals.
High Court Judge Justice Moraes said the decision to arrest the 70-year-old politician was a preventative measure after recent developments emerged.
This involved trying to remove his ankle monitor and a call for a demonstration that could enable a chance to flee".
Court Filing Details Escape Risks
In a filing authorising the custody, the judge said intelligence from the facility tracking his home detention suggested the one-time head of state's plan to remove the electronic ankle bracelet to guarantee victory in his flight.
This, it said, would be assisted by the disorder caused by the protest called by his offspring.
His offspring, Flávio, who holds office as a legislator, called for a assembly of his followers near his father's house to take place on Saturday evening.
The senator wrote on online platforms on last Friday: "Are you going to fight for your nation, or watch it all from your phone there on your settee? I urge you to fight with us."
He said the vigil would be so supporters could "pray for his well-being and for the return of democracy in our country."
Embassy Asylum Concerns
Part of Justice Moraes's decision was the potential of Bolsonaro's transfer to embassies near the dwelling, considering that the probes revealed a background of arranging to request asylum through a diplomatic representation", a declaration said.
The judicial paperwork highlights that the US embassy in the federal district, the capital city, is situated around approximately 13 kilometers from the former president's residence.
International Reactions
Bolsonaro's legal woes have provoked anger from fellow conservative nationalist American leader Trump, leading him to implement a half-rate duty on goods coming from Brazil.
Bolsonaro is being detained in a national police facility in the capital and will experience a custody hearing on the next day.
Recent Legal Requests
It was only on the previous day that the his legal team asked the Supreme Court to permit him to fulfill his full incarceration period under domestic detention, with tracking devices.
They also petitioned that the former president be allowed to exit his dwelling for healthcare, saying he demanded frequent medical attention for lung conditions and other illnesses.
Details of Guilty Verdict
He was found guilty of leading a scheme aimed at keeping him in power after he failed to win the 2022 election to his ideological adversary, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Supreme Court justices said that he had knowledge of a plot which encompassed plans to assassinate Lula and his running partner, Alckmin, and to detain and kill Justice Moraes - the Supreme Court justice who has been overseeing Bolsonaro's trial.
The conspiracy was prevented because it didn't receive the support of the military leaders. His successor was took office without problem on January 1st, 2023.
But a week later, on 8 January, many his followers stormed and vandalised official structures in the federal district, Brazil's capital.
The police took action and around approximately 1,500 persons were detained.
The justices found that the rioters had been provoked by him whose scheme, they said, was for the country's army to step in, bring back stability and return him to office.
At the moment, his attorneys called the 27 years and three months sentence extremely harsh.
He was also prohibited from running for public office until the year 2060 - a decade minus two years after the completion of his term.
The one-time head of state called the legal proceedings a "witch hunt and said it was intended to stop him running in the next presidential race.
